Das Seminar verfolgt das Ziel, einen Überblick über diese traditions- und facettenreiche Teildisziplin der Philosophie zu bieten. Thematisch werden wir uns nicht nur mit dem Verhältnis der Wirtschaftsphilosophie zur Politischen Philosophie und den rationalitäts-, motivations- und handlungstheoretischen Aspekten der Ökonomie beschäftigen, sondern insbesondere auch mit der Wirtschaftsethik. Gegenstand der Analyse werden Texte klassischer Autoren wie Adam Smith, David Ricardo, Marx, Hayek und Sen sein.

Literaturangaben werden in der ersten Sitzung des Seminars ausgegeben.

‘That’s capitalism!’ lies behind many of our reasonings justifying the wrongness or rightness of our institutions, societies, cultures or even historical status. But what exactly is capitalism? How is it working? Are there variants of it? Is there any alternative to it? Is it part of, or a main problem of ours or rather a solution to it? In this course we will deal with questions like this in a normative respect, analyzing concepts and phenomena such as labor, (free) market, profit, property, production and so on, according to diverse influential accounts. 

A list of the literature will be made available in the first session.
