José L. Bermúdez: Rationality without words

This lecture explores two ideas. The first is the relation between logic and language. I argue that a certain type of logical thinking is language-dependent. Many theories of rationality are built around this type of logical thinking. The second idea is that there are alternative ways of thinking about rationality in non-linguistic creatures. I distinguish three levels of non-linguistic rationality.
