MAIN RESEARCH

My research project focuses on the rare neuromuscular disease Morbus Pompe. Using diffusion tensor imaging we could already show a diffusion restriction in leg muscles of LOPD patients prior to fatty degeneration. In order to gain a better understanding of the course of the disease, a long-term study with patients will be conducted. In parallel, a mouse model will be established to gain further insight into the course and potential rescue.

METHODS

• quantitative imaging methods
• Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI - muscles)
• programming in Java and Python
• DNA/RNA: PCR, qPCR, Sequencing, Cloning
• Protein: Laser Microdissection, Western Blot
• Cell culture: Transfection, primary cell culture
