Proteins are important research entities as they are the executive biomolecules in cells, tissues and organs. Thereby proteomics comprises the identification, quantification and spatial resolution of many proteins in complex samples in parallel. Proteomics experiments with focus on clinical research are indispensable for a comprehensive understanding of biological functions and diseases that are socio-economically highly relevant for ageing societies such as neurodegenerative disorders, metabolic diseases and cancer. In this context, the service center BioInfra.Prot has deep expertise and experience with proteomics tools, standards and analyses with focus on clinical as well as human proteomics and provides high-quality bioinformatics services for these disciplines. We offer not only software and workflows , but also various consulting services to support users in bioinformatics or statistical questions in the field of proteomics. Our consulting services include:
Standard formats are represented in all areas of science. There are also certain standard formats in proteomics, which are intended to simplify uniform and structured work. This service supports users in questions regarding the choice of the appropriate format and in the conversion of their data. It is also indispensable within good scientific practice to make data available to the public. This is achieved by raw data repositories like PRIDE. Thereby, data gain a better visibility in the proteomic community and a better cross-linking to other databases like UniProt or NeXtprot. In addition, the data is stored centrally and loss of data on private servers is prevented. Furthermore, uploading data to such a repository is part of a FAIR-compliant data management and has become the standard procedure for many journals to allow later reanalysis.
The portfolio of our consulting service includes:
We offer a bioinformatical consulting service concerning the application of our own tools as well as other proteomics software. Researchers will be advised in data handling, managing large amounts of data as well as choosing and using suitable data and workflow-specific software tools. Moreover we define frequently needed proteomics-specific data analysis pipelines for workflow environments like KNIME or Galaxy and make them easily available. Beyond the expert advice given by our bioinformaticians, we also offer to conduct the respective analyses as agreed. The portfolio of our services includes, but is not limited to:
The statistical consulting offered by de.NBI’s service-center BioInfra.Prot can support you in various aspects of your proteomics analyses. We assist in the planning of your study, in the choice of appropriate analysis methods and/or the interpretation and presentation of obtained results. Beyond the expert advice given by our biostatistican, we also offer to conduct the respective analyses and create graphics for your publication The portfolio of our services includes, but is not limited to:
