New visiting fellow - Anjan Kumar Das


We warmly welcome our new visiting international fellow Dr. Anjan Kumar Das.

Dr Anjan K Das works as Associate Professor at the School of Medicine in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at Taylor’s University, Malaysia. He is a cardiothoracic surgeon by training and has wide-ranging experience in surgery, clinical research and stem cell applications in medicine in various Medical Colleges in the public and private sector in India and abroad. He has held appointment as Head of the Department and COO of a major teaching hospital in the past. He has also worked in the corporate sector as a Director of Clinical Research for a stem cell startup company for 5 years.

He has had several grants from the Malaysian Government; Taylor’s University and the Institute of Medical Research, Malaysia and now has two students who are completing their research for higher degrees by research under his guidance. He has more than 40 peer reviewed publications and has written three book chapters and presented a large number of papers in National and International conferences.

His principal research interests at present include stem cell applications, medical teaching and ethical problems in medical practice. He has just completed a project that investigated an in vitro wound healing model using conditioned media. Another recent project in collaboration with the Tohoku University, Japan, investigated the ethics of reusing single use items in medical practice.
