THE VENUE

The workshop The Limits of Experimentation – Current Challenges in Experimental Linguistic Practice (LofE) will take place at the Convention Centre (Hall 1) of the Ruhr-University Bochum.

Address:
Universitätsstraße 150
44801 Bochum

The best way to get to the University from Bochum main station is the subway U35 (also labelled CampusLinie) in the direction “Ruhr-Universität - Querenburg - Hustadt”. You can get off at the station “Ruhr-Universität” and turn right after the stairs heading straight towards the Central University Library (Universitätsbibliothek, UB), the Audimax and the Mensa/ Cantina.

The Convention Centre (Veranstaltungszentrum Ruhr-Universität Bochum) is located in the middle of the Campus, right behind the university cantina (Mensa). The building behind the Audimax is the cantina, you enter it and follow the signs to Veranstaltungszentrum. You can find the Convention Center on the Campus Map on the next pages, abbreviated as VZ.

On campus, there will be signs leading to the convention centre.

Great for leisure, within a few minutes walking distance from the Convention Centre! One of the most prestigious botanical gardens in Germany with a size of over 13 hectares, containing numerous plants and greenhouses as well as the university’s bee colonies. A special highlight is the Chinese Garden Qian Yuan in the south-east, established in 1990 as a gift from RUB’s partner university Tongji University in Shanghai. The garden is designed following classical Chinese principles of architecture and contains numerous typical plants and Koi carps. How to get there: follow the signs south from the Convention Centre by foot, other entrance (start: Bus station Ruhr University): Bus line 320 (direction: Witten), stop “Botanischer Garten”.
