Youth Innovation Competition on Global Governance (YICGG)

The international competition „Youth Innovation Competition on Global Governance“ (YICGG) is an initiative of Fudan University (Shanghai) and is supported by the Development Programme of the United Nations. YICGG is carried out anually and offers student teams from all aroud the world an opportunity to present creative ideas to anually changing topics on Global Governance.

Since 2019, the Faculty of East Asian Studies has been an official partner in the Core Working Network of YICGG at Fudan University, Shanghai.
The aim is to strengthen the exchange between the two institutions and broaden the possibilities for those students being interested in intercultural activities such as the annual Youth Innovation Competition on Global Governance (YICGG).
YICGG is held every year in a different location, providing an excellent opportunity not only to interact with other students and experts, but also to engage in cultural experiences.


Participation procedure

The participation in the YICGG is open to all interested students.

YICGG usually takes place in July/August, so the registration and application process starts from February.

Step 1: If you are interested, please contact Prof. Bersick by December:

Step 2: Every year, YICGG sets a different focus. Each participant or group (max. 2-person teams) prepares a so-called research proposal with approx. 15 pages on a topic of their own choosing, which will be forwarded in the application process after consultation with Prof. Bersick. A very short introductory video of the candidate can be created independently. This will be sent directly to the organizing team.

Step 3: After successful acceptance, each participant takes care of his travel documents and tickets. Travel expenses will be refunded!

Step 4: Each participant has to prepare an Ignite-Talk: in exactly 5 minutes you will explain your ideas from the proposal on the YICGG to the experts and the other participants.
