eMuCo presented its concept at ICME in New York

eMuCo presented its concept at the Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing and Novel Parallel Computing hosted by IEEE Signal Processing Society Multimedia TC in the frame of the 2009 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME) in New York on the 2nd of July

EMuCo was present at the 2009 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME) in New York on the 2nd of July. EMuCo exposed the basis of the mobile platform of future mobile phones, which offers full portability to the user's applications by virtualization techniques and standardized interfaces (e.g. POSIX). The eMuCo software platform gives to the user´s application developers the flexibility and scalability necessary to enable fast time-to-market. The limit of the exploitation capabilities of the mobile multi-core platform will be given by the application developers´ imagination and the scheduling policy of the load balancer.

Smartphones, as Blackberry and iPhone, sales have increased in the last time in decrement of voice services oriented mobile phones. "Mobile users want to have the benefit of rich feature applications on their mobiles as they have today in their PCs", said Maria Elizabeth Gonzalez, leading the eMuCo research team at RUB. "Virtualization offers a path to bring the demanded applications to market, in a reliable and fast manner, and enable to exploit the advantages of multi-core processors on mobile phones".

This event was a great opportunity to exchange ideas with members of research and the industrial community from all over the world, especially the USA. It confirmed once more that eMuCo is pointed to the solution for future smart phones.
