The eMuCo project was an enriching experience that brought the concepts of MultiCore together with embedded virtualization to the mobile world for the first time

The initiative achieved an acceptance not only to the mobile market but extended to other applications such as automotive and slowly also diverging on industrial automation and control applications. Everything points to the next step being the horizontal homogenization of MultiCore and embedded virtualization across various applications. It means, the creation of a common basic framework based on MultiCore and embedded virtualization that could be customized to the different applications with a minimal effort. This framework has to consider all the challenges of the applications like performance limitations, real time and security requirements. A potential initiative that could push a common framework forward has to include all the main players of the industry and academia to guarantee not only the suitability of such framework but also the technology transfer. This next step will significantly enhance European footprint in the embedded technology area. We are looking forward to being part of the next step beyond eMuCo and contribute with all the experiences gained.
