About studying mathematics at RUB
The Faculty of Mathematics at Ruhr-Universität Bochum provides excellent mathematics instruction. The curriculum is delivered in high-quality lectures accompanied by practical tutorials as well as in seminars that introduce students to scientific methods.
After the basics have been covered in the first year of study within the bachelor’s degree programmes, a wide range of topics that are closely aligned with the faculty’s research topics are available for more in-depth study. In their bachelor’s and master’s theses students are introduced to current research topics.
Lectures, tutorials, and seminars are generally held in German. On request, advanced courses may – if appropriate – be held in English. Lectures regularly held in English are listed in the international course catalogue.
