You’d like to get to Ruhr University in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way? No problem, the university is very easy to reach by public transport, bike or on foot; parking spots, however, tend to be difficult to find.
From Bochum’s main railway station, you can take the underground U35 (CampusLinie) to get to Ruhr University, which has its own stop. The U35 (going in the direction of Bochum Hustadt) runs every 5 minutes on weekdays and takes less than 10 minutes from the main station to the university.
It’s just as easy to get to the campus by bike. The NRW cycle route planner will help you find the best route to Ruhr University. You can also get to the campus easily on foot.

In addition to the central campus in Bochum’s Querenburg district, Ruhr University also operates facilities in Bochum’s city centre and in the Laer district, in accordance with its three-pole campus strategy.
Ruhr University occupies several floors in the so-called Bochumer Fenster, a modern building on Massenbergstraße not far from Bochum’s main railway station. This includes facilities run by the departments of psychology and law, as well as the RUB gym.

The former Opel site is currently being transformed into an ultra-modern science park. Ruhr University will soon be represented here with its own research buildings. It already operates a range of facilities on several floors of the former Opel administration building, the O-Werk.
