Conflict in the workplace and the study place

Members of Ruhr-Universität Bochum are committed to establishing relations based on mutual esteem and respect. A good work and classroom environment is essential to ensure the wellbeing of students and employees at Ruhr-Universität and to enable them to perform well in their job and in their degree course.

However, conflicts may occur in the workplace and in the classroom. Severe conflicts, or even mobbing, discrimination or sexual harassment, may become serious stress factors and cause health problems.

In case of conflict, Ruhr-Universität provides a number of counselling services to its staff and students, to help the affected parties find a way to resolve the crisis. Below, you will find the contact data of professionals who provide conflict management services.

All counselling interviews take place in a secure environment. Information, personal data and matters discussed are treated confidentially.

Complaints Office as per the General Equal Treatment Act

Implemented in compliance with the General Equal Treatment Act (Allgemeines Gleichbehandlungsgesetz, AGG), the Office is an interdepartmental entity which deals with complaints pertaining to conflicts in the workplace, mobbing, sexual harassment and discrimination. The Complaints Office is made up of the following members:

The Complaints Office assesses each submitted complaint and, if required, recommends further measures to the respective employees' office.
