University Language Centre (ZFA)

In the run-up to the Winter term, the placement test will take place by the end of September and beginning of October 2012. The exact dates will be published here. The tests will be taken in electronic form on campus.  

• Please refer to Allgemeines/Regelungen to make sure if you have to pay for a language course or if you are eligible for free-of-charge participation (as all regular students of the RUB are).
  
• Please also look at this page or at our internal course catalogue for information on our placement tests.

Before you enrol for any ZFA English course you have to take part in a placement test (for exceptions see below). This is also true of students who wish to enrol in a "0 to B1" course or one of our special subject courses. Our placement tests are offered at the beginning of each semester. Of course, you can register for a language course only after having sat the placement test, since only then will you know for wich course level you can enrol.

Exceptions:
• Have you successfully completed one of our courses? Then you can enrol for a course on the next higher level.
  Take the certificate (Schein) of the course you completed to the first course session and present it to the instructor.
  
  
• Have you completed a course at another college or university? Please ask one of our staff members of the English language team (see → Contact) or Ms. Astrid Reich (astrid.reich@rub.de) if your certificate can be accepted in place of a placement test result.
