Practical Training DaF: Work Experience at the Department of German as a Foreign Language
Before your placement
Interested in completing a work experience at the Department of German as a Foreign Language? Students of German as a Foreign Language (DaF) and students of Languages for Special Purposes (Sprachlehrforschung) have the opportunity to sit-in on our classes. Let us know by sending us a short overview of yourself, the reasons why you wish to undertake a placement and what you hope to achieve, plus the desired time period of your placement. We will then let you know of possible dates.
The Course of Your Placement
Before sitting in on our classes, it is recommended that you sit in one the consultation sessions for German course participants/ potential TestDaF candidates. Ideally you should observe two sessions and then carry out two consultations yourself.
As regards sitting in on classes, you will be given the opportunity to observe various classes (after prior agreement). A short consultation session after the end of the lesson in question is an integral part of this process. All such class visits are carried out after prior agreement with the course tutor in question.
Subsequently, you should decide in which particular group you would like to continue your class observance. At the end of your placement you should, again in agreement with the course tutor in question, carry out a lesson or part of a lesson which you yourself have planned. This should be around 1-2 hours.
Please be sure to submit a plan of action at the beginning of your placement and a written report at the end.
