Australia (2008) - Adventure/Drama/History/Romance

Set in the Australian Outback at the beginning of World War II, the film tells the story of Lady Sarah Ashley, played by Nicole Kidman, who travels from Great Britain to Australia to meet her husband; however as she arrives, she finds him already murdered. Sarah meets Drover who helps her to retrieve her late husband’s cattle farm. With the help of a half caste boy, Nullah, she undertakes a journey that will change her life forever. The dialogues in this film provide a good impression of Australian English.

Long Walk Home (2002) - Adventure/Drama/History

The film is set in Australia and depicts the era of racial politics in Australia. During that time mixed race children had to be taken away from their Aboriginal mothers to be educated in English language and culture in state camps. Molly, Daisy and Gracie escape from such a camp to go back to their mothers. While trying to get home they have to endure all sorts of hardships. This film provides a good impression of Australian and Aboriginal English.
