Research Area

Aliaksandr Stepanovich studied chemistry from 2004 to 2010 at Belarusian State University (Minsk, Belarus) with focus on physical chemistry of solids. In 2009 he wrote his Diploma thesis on formation of titanium oxide thin-film nanostructures in microwave plasma. In 2010 he defended his master thesis on fabrication of magnetic composite nanoparticles Fe3O4/Ag by spray pyrolysis.
Starting December 2010 he joined the Combinatorial Materials Science Group, Institute for Materials, Ruhr University Bochum as PhD candidate. His research topic focuses on the development and characterization of metal-oxide semiconductor electrodes. These electrodes will be employed in photoelectrochemical cells for the generation of hydrogen by way of solar water splitting.
