Research Area

Chinmay Khare received his B. Sc in Physics from University of Pune, India in 2006. In June 2008 he obtained his Masters degree in ‘Nanomolecular Science’ from Jacobs University Bremen, Germany. From September 2008 to December 2011 he attended doctoral school ‘BuildMoNa’ at the Universität Leipzig and worked under supervision of Prof. Dr. B. Rauschenbach at the Leibniz-Institut für Oberflächenmodifizierung, Leipzig. During the PhD program, his work was focused on fabrication and characterization of Ge, Ag and multilayered Si/Ge columnar nanostructure arrays deposited by glancing angle deposition technique. In particular, influence of substrate pre-patterning, growth temperature and deposition geometry was investigated.

Since January 2012, he joined Prof. Ludwig’s ‘Combinatorial Material Science’ group as a post-doctoral fellow at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, where his work is focused on the development of porous nanostructures for photoelectrochemical cells for the generation of hydrogen by means of solar-water splitting.
