Herne: museum of archaeology

At the museum of archaeology, visitors experience history up close on an area spanning 3,000 square metres. From mammoth-bone biface to doll heads from the Second World War, the history of Westphalia truly comes alive in Herne. Interested visitors have the chance to turn into archaeologists in the integrated research lab. A megalithic tomb that is more than 5,000 years old and 14 training tables are available if you wish to try your hand at different archaeological methods. At least once every year, interesting special exhibitions are set up to complement the museum’s permanent programme.
