New building for the Faculty of Sports Science
Construction of the new building for the Faculty of Sports Science on the Health Campus has been going on since April 2011. The 10.5 million euro building will replace the Unihochhaus West (UHW) high-rise, the former “home” of RUB’s athletes. Its completion is scheduled for early 2012, and it is set to be the first building of the new Health Campus.
Central access
The new building, which will serve as the central access point for the RUB’s sports compound, is a compact, three-storey building with 4,400 square metres of space. It will house a library, student work stations, seminar rooms, offices, and meeting and examination rooms. The building will be able to accommodate 60 teaching and administrative staff as well as approximately 1,100 students. The Department of Sports Medicine, which is currently still located at Overbergstraße, is also set to move here.
