IC building
In contrast to the new building ID, IC is an existing building that has been undergoing refurbishment since August 2011. The gutting of the building will last approximately half a year and will be followed by work on the exterior to weather-proof the building’s facade. Following the interior refit, refurbishment, and relocation, it is expected that the IC building will be back in use in time for the winter semester 2013/14.
The refurbished and modernised IC building will house the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Advanced Materials Simulation (ICAMS).
Project launch
The restoration and modernisation work will cost approximately 70 million euros. This represents the beginning of a project to restore the almost 50-year-old buildings within the “I” building series. The project is scheduled for completion in 2015.
