Beckmanns Hof – International Convention Centre of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum
On behalf of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB), the “Beckmanns Hof – International Convention Centre of RUB” has been welcoming international guests for 25 years. The convention centre provides a venue for lively exchanges – in a very special atmosphere: it is situated right next to the Botanical Gardens and the historic Beckmanns Hof farmhouse. This historical building is 300 years old and a relic from the pre-university agricultural era of Bochum-Querenburg. The farm has been preserved on today’s university campus as a reminder of this chapter of history.
Beckmanns Hof has been renovated and expanded: extensions are being added at both the western and the eastern end of the building to develop the historic farm house as a conference centre.
Public restaurant
Among other things, the house feature a lift system to ensure unrestricted access to and use of the seven rooms in the building. Moreover, the new conference rooms are equipped with ultra-modern audio-visual systems. The International Convention Centre, after being refurbished and expanded at a cost of 20 million euros, opened for business at January 2012.
Another addition will be the adjoining restaurant “Faculty Club”, run by the Academic Support Service (Akademische Förderungswerk – AKAFÖ). The Faculty Club is a public restaurant that serves à la carte meals.
