Student Survey
In addition to the evaluation procedures, which analyse the quality of teaching and learning conditions on the course and faculty level, the Ruhr-Universität uses more generalised student surveys as a further quality assurance tool.
Student monitor
The Centre of Interdisciplinary Regional Research (Zentrum für interdisziplinäre Regionalforschung, ZEFIR) has, since 2005, been regularly examining in its student monitor the social background, motivations for studying and the occupations of Bochum students at the beginning and in the course of their studies across the faculties. These data are then made accessible to the faculties and the general public in aggregated form.
Graduate survey
Questioning former students is a good indicator for universities of the direction, organisation and practical value of university courses. For this reason, as a further form of continuing evaluation of teaching and courses, the Ruhr-Universität has decided to carry out a graduate survey in conjunction with other universities.
The project "Studying conditions and professional success" ("Studienbedingungen und Berufserfolg“) asks about the qualifications and abilities graduates acquired during their studies at the Ruhr-Universität and their practical value for their careers. The emphasis here is on the studying conditions in the BA/MA courses and the transition from university to career.
The results of the survey are made accessible to the faculties and the general public in aggregated form, and parts of them are used in the teaching report as a database.
