January 2019 - Low-cycle fatigue test on the notched beam
In January 2019, a 2.00 m long notched beam was successfully tested in the area of "low cycle fatigue". During the test, crack initiation and crack progress were documented on the rolled profile. The strain behavior in the notch area was recorded during the test by means of strain gauges. Two symmetrical cracks based on the predicted notches were observed.

September 2018 - Experimental Testing on Hollow Profile Composite Columns
As part of the FOSTA research project "Concrete-filled hollow profile composite columns for multi-storey buildings - innovation and design" (IGF project no .: 19677), the stability behavior of hollow profile composite columns is investigated using experimental, numerical and analytical methods.
In April of 2019, a 4-meter-long double hollow profile composite column made of high-strength materials was successfully tested in the construction parts test (KIBKON). During the test, the force applied, the deflections in the quarter points and the head plate rotation were measured. With the help of strain gauges, elongations of the hollow profiles were recorded at selected points along the column axis. The column tests are intended to provide significant insight into the load-bearing capacity and deformation behavior of concrete-filled composite columns. Further column tests will follow in the coming months.

This enables students to learn at their own pace and in their own chosen environment. The face-to-face events are held as an "inverted classroom", whereby students can review and present independently acquired knowledge.
