Job opportunities
Professorships
The Ruhr-Universität Bochum – Fakultät für Chemie und Biochemie invites applications for the following tenured faculty positions:
W3-PROFESSOR in NMR SPECTROSCOPY
W2-PROFESSOR in MOLECULAR SIMULATION
W2-PROFESSOR in ORGANIC CHEMISTRY
W2-PROFESSOR in PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY
Application Deadline: April 5th 2013
All professors will be tenured upon appointment and provided with additional funding by the Cluster of Excellence Ruhr Explores Solvation (RESOLV). They will strongly benefit from state-of-the-art laboratories that will be provided within the Research Building ZEMOS , as well as the shared facilities of the Research Department “Interfacial Systems Chemistry” and RESOLV .
RESOLV is funded within the German Excellence Initiative, and aims at establishing “Solvation Science” as an overarching topic at RUB. The mission of RESOLV is to launch Solvation Science as a new interdisciplinary field to understand the influence of solvation on reactions, the function of biomolecules, and processes at liquid-solid interfaces.
Early Career Research Group Leaders
One Independent Research Group Leader position extendable until 30th Oct. 2017 (E14TVL): This joint RUB-MPI Early Career Research Group “Sum Frequency Generation” will set-up a new Sum Frequency Generation (SFG) laboratory at the Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung in Düsseldorf to link research in the areas of electrochemistry and heterogeneous catalysis at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum with those at the Max-Planck-Institut in Düsseldorf. The group leader will receive funding to establish surface-sensitive nonlinear vibrational spectroscopy techniques of both hard and soft interfaces in RESOLV.
One researcher position at the synchrotron facility DELTA. Depending on qualification this will be offered as an Independent Research Group Leader, extendable until to the 30th of October 2017(E14TVL), or as a post-doc for 2 years: This new position will be hosted at the synchrotron facility DELTA in Dortmund. The possibility to access synchrotron radiation for structural and spectroscopic characterization as well as the availability of a new short-pulse facility producing pulses in the 50 to 100 fs regime with energies of 25–50 eV enables new experiments in the field of Solvation Science. Therefore the candidate should have a strong background in synchrotron radiation-based research with the focus on Solvation Science related topics such as the investigation of disordered materials (e.g. liquids, biomembranes, proteins).
Deadline for Application: 17.05.2013
