Shaping of object representations by cognitive and emotional factors

Chemische Prozesse an Synapsen im Fokus

Perceptual representations are modified by cognitive and emotional factors, but the mechanisms controlling these changes are largely unknown. Here, we plan to investigate the impact of spatial learning and stress on neural representations of locations and objects using simultaneous EEG/fMRI recordings. Stimulus-specific representations will be identified via multivariate analyses in distributed fMRI and EEG patterns, and the influence of neural excitability via prestimulus oscillations. These studies will shed new light on learning- and stress-related representational changes.
