Summary/Abstract
The subproject A9 develops micromechanical models for shape memory alloys by means of energetic concepts. The models are based solely on physically meaningful parameters taking into account crystallographical and mechanical properties of the material such as, e.g., Bain strains and elastic constants of different variants. In the current funding period the main focus is put on the development of laminar-type energetic bounds for polycrystals, modeling of the R-phase, and an enhancement of the models to account for size effects and surface energies.
