Travel Instructions

When you arrive in Berlin you should immediately buy a 7-day ticket ("7-Tage Ticket") for scope AB, which costs €27,20. Note that this product is not immediately visible on ticket machines, but rather, you have to scroll down to find the 7-day ticket. You should validate your ticket in an orange machine before your first trip. We emphasize that you will need some means of transportation from your hotel to the lecture room. Following is an overview of the most commonly used connections. See also Berlin Transport Services for more information on how to get around in Berlin. Depending on how much tourism you plan to do, you might also need a map of Berlin such as this one, which you can pick up in the airport bookstore for around €5.

From Schönefeld airport to the hotel

Note that Schönefeld lies outside scope AB. One solution is to buy a 7-Day-Ticket for scope ABC which costs €33,50. Another possibility is to buy extension tickets ("Anschlussfahrscheine") for the trips to and from the airport for €1,40 each, in addition to a 7-day ticket for scope AB. We remark that many people have been made to pay fines for traveling to Schönefeld with only an AB ticket.
