MOVE 2013 Strategy
With the beginning of a study programme or a new job at Ruhr-Universität there are a lot of questions:
- Is it worth to move to Bochum for my study program or job?
- How do I get to the campus best?
- Where can I park my car or bike safely at university?
- Can I use public transport?
In order to get suitable answers about these and a lot of other questions concerning mobility and to find sustainable solutions the project group RUB.2013 and the Department for construction and facility management develop a mobility concept. Here we cooperate with many other institutions at RUB (e.g. Employee Committees, AStA, disabled representations, equal opportunity commissioner, AKAFÖ) as well as the city of Bochum and the Bau- und Liegenschaftsbetrieb NRW.
Aims
The aims of this mobility concept are:
- To improve the satisfaction of our students and employees about the accessibility of Ruhr-Universität and the movement on campus and its branches.
- To establish a sustainable mobility culture that assists the ecological awareness for the location.
- To build a scope of action for the changing campus.
Procedure
In order to learn something about the demands of the current students and employees concerning their personal mobility and the problems they have reaching or passing across the campus an online survey took place between January 16 and 29, 2012. Every member of RUB received an email in January 2012, with a personal link to take part in the anonymous survey.
First measures: bicycle racks
Already during the survey first measures were tackled by Björn Frauendienst and Bernhard Uckelmann from Dezernat 5: With the help of many colleagues at the information desks they listed all bicycle racks at RUB and inspected if the racks are located weatherproof. At G-Nordstraße as well as in front of the buildings MA, SH or UV, for instance, the situation will be improved. The survey will also collect information about the question where additional racks are needed.
