Welcome to the Digital Scriptorium Web site! The term ‘digital scriptorium’ is sometimes used to refer to virtual reading rooms, i.e. Web databases which allow you to view pictures of medieval manuscript pages. This Digital Scriptorium Web site, however, presents a digital scriptorium in the strict sense where you can act like a medieval scribe, i.e. compose digital manuscript pages in a medieval hand, or alternatively in a modern typeface that contains the required abbreviation signs. Along the way, you’ll learn how to use scribal abbreviations.

The Digital Scriptorium is currently in beta and will be available to registered users of Abbreviationes™ Online as part of their license.
