Investigations
on the impact of metal-substrate interactions on the oxidation of short-chain
alcohols
The selective oxidation of short chain alcohols
on highly active gold catalysts is investigated as test reaction for achieving
deeper insights in exploring the relevance of metal-support interactions.
A combination of (transient) kinetic and IR-spectroscopic methods should elucidate
the identity of active sites and intermediates. Target is achieving a general
molecular understanding of the unusually high activity of gold catalysts in
the selective gas-phase oxidation of alcohols.
