Welcome
The Department of Chinese Languages and Literatures offers a wide range of courses on the languages, literatures and cultures of China. A focus of both teaching and research is on literature, whereby modern Chinese literature and Taiwanese literature have increasingly emerged as fields of research in recent years. The Department also provides most of the language and reading courses in Modern Chinese which are compulsory for students of the BA programme in East Asian Economics and Politics. Attached to the Department are the Richard Wilhelm Translation Centre and the Research Unit for Taiwanese Culture and Literature.
