Work conditions
- The Mercator Research Group Spaces of Anthropological Knowledge started in 2010 with the appointment of one professor for each research area. The project runs for six years, and filling research positions each professor is dedicated to this project as her core activity. Apart from a total of 12 PhD students, senior scholars from high profile international research communities will be visiting the group for longer periods of time to inspire a continuously challenging and prosperous intellectual environment. The successful PhD candidates will thus be integrated into a demanding and encouraging academic community in which collaboration with professors will be accompanied by participation in group discussions and by lively interactions among fellow PhD students. Each PhD student will be associated with one of the research areas, i.e. with one of the professors. Due to the close collaboration between professors, the PhD student will not only be related to his or her professor, but seen as part of the whole group. We look for applications from candidates who can contribute to this type of high quality collaborative scholarly environment.
- Project language is German and English. Proficiency in both languages is required.
- PhD students are expected to start no later than 12 months after the application deadline.
