The Medical Bioinformatics of the Medizinisches Proteom-Center is looking for a scientist in the area "bioinformatics of proteomics".

Job profile:
- Development of new algorithms in the area "bioinformatics of proteomics" and implementation of these into scientific analysis software
- Analysis of proteomics data
- Supporting scientists with the analysis of proteomics data and the usage of analysis software
- Support with the establishment of the scientific cloud infrastructure in an OpenStack environment

You have knowledge of and /or experience in the following topics of computer science / bioinformatics:
- degree in bioinformatics, computer science or similar degree course
- analysis of biological high-throughput / omics data
- object oriented programming (e.g. Java, C++)
- accustomed to the linux console and script programming

Knowledge and interest in the following is desirable:
- OpenStack, distributed computing and/or virtualisation
- algorithms in bioinformatics, bioinformatics of proteomics
- administration of linux systems
- administration of Windows systems

(BIO-)INFORMATICIAN, STATISTICIAN OR DATA SCIENTIST

Short version:
The Medical Bioinformatics of the Medizinisches Proteom-Center (MPC) is looking for a (bio-)informatician, statistician or data scientist.

TV-L E13 (100%)

Job profile:
- Development and implementation of novel approaches for feature selection using statistical and/or machine learning methods for the identification of informative variables that can be used as a prognostic biomarker panel.
- Development and implementation of an appropriate model and a software module for the prediction of the most probable course of a disease and the probably best therapy for particular patients in the future-oriented field of individualized medicine.
- Bioinformatical and statistical analysis of clinical and omics data that are generated in a clinical research project.

You have knowledge of and /or experience in the following topics of the scientific data analysis:
- degree in bioinformatics, Computer science, statistics, data science or similar degree course
- analysis of biological high-throughput / omics data
- programming in at least one relevant programming language

Knowledge and interest in the following is desirable:
- R and/or Java programming
- statistics, pattern recognition and/or machine learning
- methods for data cleaning and pre-processing
- algorithms and methods for feature selection, regression and classification
- data and results visualization
- basic web-programming
- proteomics and/or mass spectrometry
- good interdisciplinary communication skills
- good written and spoken English skills
