The research focus of our group is the investigation of infectious diseases following proteomics-based strategies. In particular, chronic virus infections are of special interest. By means of proteome analyses we try to uncover molecular mechanisms at the protein level that can be associated to the chronification of different virus infections. Apart from that, we are investigating proteomic alterations induced by antiviral drugs in order to elucidate their specific ways of action. Furthermore, we are continuously working on the development of new and the enhancement of existing methods of quantitative proteomics. Especially, we are aiming for new chemical methods for the selective labeling and mass spectrometry-based quantification of particular subproteomes.
