The Master 2.0 degree Cognitive Science

is unique because … it is in English, extremely research-orientated and highly interdisciplinary: philosophy, psychology, neuroinformatics and empirical neurosciences are systematically combined. In the core subject fields of “Social Cognition”, “Learning and Memory”, “Perception and Action” and “Language, Logic and Categories”, the same phenomena are examined using different methods to achieve a comprehensive understanding. All students are very intensively and practically acquainted with at least two very different methodological approaches, and introduced early to current research issues.

deals with research issues such as… what are the basic mechanisms of learning, forgetting and remembering? What are the principles of action control in humans (how free are we?) What role do emotions play for our cognitive abilities? What are the critical mechanisms in the brain for object perception, action and concept formation? What are the neural bases for mental illnesses? How have cognitive skills and how have the brains of humans and animals developed during the course of evolution?
