interdisciplinary work – discover neighbouring subjects
It is often only possible to discover or develop new things when we discard the mindcuffs of own subject and gain an insight into neighbouring disciplines. This cross-disciplinary cooperation is the basis for many current research projects and, for example, a prerequisite for the collaborative research centres of the German Research Foundation.
The interdisciplinary approach is a living tradition at the Ruhr-Universität – which is also favoured by its compact campus where humanities, natural sciences, engineering and medicine are all just a five minute walk apart. The RUB research campus is shaped by interdisciplinary research departments, which perform cutting-edge research in various fields. The assignment to the faculties is irrelevant for the members. The 2.0-Master degree courses are integrated into this research landscape.
