Flavio D'Abramo, PhD was visiting researcher at Imperial College London department of Epidemiology and Public Health where he utilised a sociological approach to analyse the models and beliefs researchers use and the laboratories practices with which they produce the data. Within a project funded by the Italian Ministry of Health and developed by the Italian National Institutes of Health (Istituto Superiore di Sanita'), he dealt with the ethical and epistemological issues raising from the use of monoclonal antibody cetuximab. His research focuses on history and philosophy of Biology and Medicine, particularly on genetics and epigenetics, and on research and medical ethics. Right now, he is involved in the project “personalized medicine in oncology” at the Department for Medical Ethics and History of Medicine at RUB University.
