Lebenslauf
Joaquín Barutta MD PhD is a lecturer and researcher in history and epistemology of medicine and medical ethics at the Italian Hospital University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Following his medical studies in that university he received his PhD in epistemology and history of science from the University of Tres de Febrebro, Buenos Aires. He is also a researcher in the program of Philosophy and History of Science at the National University of Quilmes, Buenos Aires, and member of the clinical ethics committee at the Italian Hospital.
Currently, he is an international visiting fellow at the Institute for Medical Ethics and History of Medicine, Ruhr-Universität, Bochum.
His main research interests are clinical ethics, especially autonomy and advance directives in Latin America, and structuralist approaches to medical theories.
