My main interests are in ethics in psychiatry, moral responsibility and Kantian ethics. Currently, I work on a project on decision-making capacity and competence to consent to treatment and research within the larger international and interdisciplinary project ENSURE.

I received my Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Amsterdam. In my dissertation Reminders of Duty: A Kantian Theory of Blame, I criticize the traditional Kantian take on moral responsibility and develop a Kantian theory of excuses and exemptions, drawing inspiration from P.F. Strawson's Freedom and Resentment.

Alongside my B.A. and M.A. studies at the University of Amsterdam, I worked as an auxiliary nurse in a rehabilitation center.
