Activities of the Honors Class

The Honors Class went on an excursion to Berlin to take part in a conference on banks and financial markets organised by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.

The Honors Class, together with the chair of Macroeconomics, spends a day in Düsseldorf. An exciting program awaits them:
At first a meeting with Mr. Wulf Noll (Head of the Economic Policy Department of the MWEIMH in North Rhine-Westphalia) is arranged where the topic “Function of the Ministry of Economics, Current Problem Areas of North Rhine-Westphalia and Politico-Economic Ways out” is discussed.
The next stop is the neighboring building, the Diet. Mrs. Daniela Schneckenburger (Spokesperson for the Green Party in NRW) has invited the HC to show how the economic policy of North Rhine-Westphalia can be constructed in times of diminished financial possibilities.
Last station of the day is the Targobank, where Mrs. Nadine Rippers (Head of HR marketing of the Targobank) talks about “Job Prospects for Economists in Private Commercial Banks.”

Interviews "Keine Graue Theorie"

The Honors Class visits Mr. Christoph Crüwell at the German Federal Institute for Financial Services Supervision (BaFin) in Bonn.
After a short introduction to the work done by the BaFin, the HC-members get the chance to discuss about the topics "Current Situation: Banking Union in the Euro-Zone" and "Macro Prudential Policy and Systemic Risks" with BaFin-personnel. Lastly a representative of the Human Resources Department displays the job prospects at the BaFin.
