The testing facilities of the structural testing laboratory with test rigs,
several testing machines and testing actuators with different modes of operation, sizes, and loading capacities,
a strong floor (10 x 30 m²),
several reaction frames,
a shaking table (1.6 x 1.6 m²) for simulating seismic or vibration motions,
as well as a hydraulic power supply are set up on about 2,500 m².
Most of the testing machines and all testing actuators are servohydraulic controlled. Controlling, measuring, and monitoring is carried out by using mini-computer systems.
The testing equipment is suitable for performing material specification tests under tension, compression, and bending load conditions. Investigations can be performed on constructions, or components of them, under uni-, bi-, or multiaxial static and dynamic loads by using the testing actuators set up on the strong floor, or the testing machines.
For data acquisition during the tests, different computer controlled systems are available for quasi-static multi-channel measuring, as well as for high speed dynamic measuring modes.
The handling of large scale testing objects with high weights (e.g. concrete, steel) is possible by using cranes (max. capacity 20 to), and forklifts (max. 2 or 6 tons).
Workshops for welding, metal machining, wood and plastics manufacturing are being used.
Also, a cement and concrete laboratory is available. Maintenance of electronic components in testing and data acquisition systems can be carried out. Supply of measurements of mechanical properties is provided by using electrical methods, for example with strain gauge applications.
