Philipp Thüne studied mechanical engineering from 2005 to 2006 and electrical engineering from 2006 to 2011, both at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. During his studies Philipp Thüne was a student research assistant at the Institute of Communication Acoustics (IKA), and interned at Atlas Elektronik, Bremen. In September 2011, he graduated in electrical engineering and information technology obtaining the Dipl.-Ing. degree with a thesis on robust speech recognition in reverberant environments.

Since November 2011 Philipp Thüne has been a research associate at IKA. His research focuses on multichannel speech and audio signal processing with applications such as echo cancellation, system identification and speech enhancement. In November 2017, Philipp Thüne obtained the Dr.-Ing. degree with a thesis on multichannel Wiener filters.
