Sebastian Gergen was born in Bonn, Germany. He studied electrical engineering at the university of applied sciences Bonn-Rhein-Sieg where he obtained his Dipl.-Ing.(FH) degree in 2008. In November 2008 he joined the IKA where he worked as a research assistant in the field of microphone array technology and multichannel signal processing. Sebastian Gergen obtained the Dr.-Ing. degree and published his doctoral dissertation "Classification of Audio Sources using Ad-hoc Microphone Arrays" in July, 2015. In 2015, Sebastian Gergen worked in the Cognitive Signal Processing Group at IKA. The focus of his current work is acoustical signal processing, room parameter estimation and machine learning.
