Molecular Mechanisms of Synaptic Processing, Function and Dysfunction 2012

On the 26th and 27th April, the IGSN held a conference entitled “Molecular Mechanisms of Synaptic Processing, Function and Dysfunction” where we were able to welcome fifteen renowned scientists from around the globe. Split into eight workgroups, these experts presented their latest findings on the molecular mechanisms of the brain to the students, who in turn had the possibility to converse with the guest speakers and display their own research at a poster presentation.

About 100 students and guests attended the lectures, which provided a fascinating and interesting insight into the current state of research in this area of molecular neuroscience. Networking was also on the agenda, as the conference also offered the IGSN students the opportunity to meet and swap ideas with some of the most recognized and influential people in this field.

The event was hosted by PhD students from the IGSN, who themselves held small talks on each of the eight sessions of the conference.

On the evening of the first conference day, guests and hosts enjoyed a conference dinner which offered a remarkable insight into the “Schützenfest” culture of Bochum!

We would like to thank all participants for once again helping to make this conference such a stimulating and interesting occasion.
