All doctoral students at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) study at the RUB Research School (RUB-RS), the university-wide graduate school that is supported by all researchers at the RUB. A great number of disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields of research offer all of our students, domestic and international, the opportunity to execute their individual research projects. There are more than 50 doctoral subjects at the RUB, which are anchored in the natural sciences and engineering, the humanities and social sciences, and the life sciences.

RUB Research School

The RUB Research School is the central campus hub for all doctoral students. Together with the faculties (i.e. RUB's disciplinary institutional units, akin to academic faculties or departments), we advise everyone who would like to do a doctorate at RUB, and we are there to support early career researchers during their doctorate.

The RUB Research School was established with support from the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments, and has been recognized by the German Council of Science and Humanities for its innovative, interdisciplinary approach to doctoral education.
