Profile - Scientific Exploration on the Research Campus

Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is one of Germany’s leading research universities with a growing international reputation. Its institutional strategy “Research Campus RUB” (RCR), which made it to the final selection round of the Excellence Initiative in 2007 and has been fully implemented since then, further develops RUB’s unique meritocratic academic culture by merging cutting-edge research with advanced, research-oriented study and teaching.

RCR features novel and highly flexible structures that bring together leading researchers in interdisciplinary Research Departments (RDs), allow talented doctoral researchers to develop to their full potential within the RUB Research School, and promote the independence and advance­ment of excellent early career researchers from the postdoc level on.

RUB draws its aca­demic strength from its can-do attitude and the diversity of academic disciplines on its campus. Research Campus RUB was designed specifically to encourage collaboration and to enable students and researchers to interact more effectively.
