DFG Funding

In 2010, the Ruhr-Universität received more than 35 million euros (external funding) from the German Research Foundation (DFG). About 40% of it went into individual projects, and some 60% into coordinated programmes such as collaborative research centres, research groups, and graduate schools.

Closely Networked

For years, the Ruhr-Universität has claimed a place among the universities with the most DFG (German Research Foundation) Collaborative Research Centres (currently ranked 6th). In the last ten years, the RUB has been able to almost double the research funds raised externally.

Over 110 million euros of external funding are raised each year in total, a good part of it for collaborative research. This allows scientists to work together on a subject at the highest international level in the long term and across the disciplines. In future we aim to further increase the number of collaborative research projects.
