Scheme to Reward the Attainment of ERC-Grants in the 7th Framework Research Programme of the EU (“ERC-Premium”)
What is the objective of the scheme?
With this scheme, the Rectorate rewards the successful attainment of an ERC Advanced Grant or ERC Starting Grant (ERC – European Research Council) in the EU’s 7th Research Framework Programme. ERC grant holders show that they are among the best scholars in their field within Europe. The aim of the premium is to support ERC grant holders in the implementation of their project and fill any funding gaps if necessary.
Who can apply for the premium?
The scheme is open to all researchers who have successfully earned an ERC Advanced Grant or ERC Starting Grant as a Principal Investigator, with the Ruhr-Universität Bochum as the host institution.
How can applications be made?
- Simply download the application form “ERC premium”.
- Fill out the application and
- Send your application with the subject “Application for the granting of an ERC premium” to rektoratsprogramme@rub.de. Please attach the Grant Agreement (in electronic form where possible).
Who decides on the application?
The premium award is not competitive. All researchers who meet the above criteria receive the premium. On presentation of the European Union Grant Agreement, an application is automatically eligible. All ERC Advanced Grants or ERC Starting Grants that are approved after announcement of this premium scheme will be taken into account.
How high is the premium?
The amount and term of the premium depend on the scope and duration of the ERC project. For each year of the project carried out at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, at the end of the project year you will receive a success fee of 10% of the grant amount distributed over the term of the project. (Example: with an ERC grant of € 2 million and a term of five years, the annual premium payable would be € 2,000,000 x 0.1:5 = € 40,000).
