Strategic Development Fund
To enhance our innovative capabilities and raise our profile, we aim to exploit our strengths across their entire scope and establish them among all the generations of researchers. To this end, the Rectorate has set up a fund that puts wind into the sails of good ideas: it helps to interest young talent in research even before they complete their masters. It provides equal support for launching both innovative and international research projects. The corresponding sponsorship schemes of the fund are open to all researchers of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum based on internal competition within the university.

- Novice Premium - premium for first DFG application
- Premium for ERC-Grant-Holders - premium for attaining an ERC Advanced Grant or ERC Starting Grant
- AvH Premium - premium for visiting scientists of the Humboldt Foundation
