Doctoral student

Scheme to Support Specific Activities of Doctoral Students

What is the objective of the scheme?

With the “Scheme to support specific activities of doctoral students”, we want to support you in achieving exceptional qualifications. To this end, the Rectorate promotes activities which represent a special added value for your doctorate. The difference to the papers already planned as part of the doctorate is to be highlighted. The eligible activities include, for example, joint interdisciplinary studies, experiments and conference participation, and tandem projects at national and particularly international level. Part-financing can also be applied for for activities that exceed the financial framework given here. Of course you can also make use of this sponsorship scheme together with other doctoral students at the Ruhr-Universität.

Who can apply?

The scheme is open to all doctoral students at the Ruhr-Universität.

What is funded?

We support your project if a clear and unambiguous reference to your PhD topic is visible and it seems appropriate to advantageously supplement the qualification aimed at with the doctoral degree. Please note that this scheme cannot be used to fund your own position or a scholarship.

Who decides on my application?

The Rectorate decides on the funding of your application, whereby a group of doctoral students advises the Rectorate in the selection of applications worthy of sponsorship.

What level of funding will I recieve?

Your scholarship can amount to up to 1,500 Euros. Our funding is not limited either in time or to certain activities/measures. Make sure, however that the term of your project is in reasonable relation to the usual processing time of a doctoral thesis. After half a year, you are required to inform the Rectorate in a written report on the use of funds.

How long will I be funded for?

The funding term depends on the nature and extent of your application.

We look forward to your applications!
